How to Volunteer
Whether a past, current or future volunteer, thank you for considering being a volunteer at the 40th Sloan Museum Auto Fair. The success of this event would not be possible if it was not for the time and effort put forth by hundreds of volunteers like you.
Volunteering at the auto fair is a great opportunity to show your support for the work the Sloan Museum is doing to preserve our shared automotive history. You will be part of the largest fundraising event for the automotive collection and archives of the Sloan Museum and Buick Automotive Gallery. Come and meet new people, make new friends, and serve your community; all while enjoying the view of hundreds of awesome vehicles!
There are several areas where we could use your help—selling tickets and handing out programs at the admission gates, directing the visitor or show car traffic, registering vehicles, or assisting with the Saturday cruise.
The volunteer hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with the exception of the cruise on Saturday night. Those hours are 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. We ask that you plan on working at least a 3-hour shift.
If you are not available to work during the show, we also need volunteers on Thursday June 21 and Friday June 23 to help set up fencing, tents, and signs. Set up for fencing starts at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday and usually takes three hours. Friday setup starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends when we are done. Each volunteer will receive an official Sloan Museum Auto Fair volunteer dash plaque and t-shirt. The t-shirt will be your identification and free admission through any gate either day of the show.
Whether you are a returning volunteer or this will be your first time helping out, we invite you to attend a brief volunteer orientation June 20 at 6:00 p.m. in Durant Plaza (the beautiful courtyard located between Sloan Museum and The Whiting). This will give you an opportunity to become familiar with the layout of the show and meet your fellow volunteers.
